Hey guys!!
So, for those of you who have never heard of NaNoWriMo, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words in the month of November,
I’ve wanted to do NaNoWriMo ever since I was about 11 or 12, when quite a few of my friends were doing it. I admit, probably half of the reason I wanted to do it so bad, was because I wanted to be like my older and more author-y friends, whom I so admired. However, my parents wisely decided that it wouldn’t be the best thing for me to be doing with my time at that season of my life, which I didn’t understand then, but now do.
This year, I asked if I could do it, and after talking about it, they told me that I could go for it. The conditions (that I made for myself, and my parent’s agreed) were that I would not let it take over my entire life, and would not neglect other responsibilities such as school, chores, being with the family and living life. (I also didn’t end up deciding to do it until the night of October 30th… Talk about last minute!!) π
I started out, expecting to get only 10, 15, or at most 20 thousand words. In fact, I began rather unenthusiastically, and for the first few day I wrote only a few hundred words, or some days not a single word.
When I was maybe 10 days through, I had written enough, that I decided I really wanted to win this thing. So I threw myself into the rather daunting project of catching up on my word count – I was thousands of words behind. It took a couple of weeks of writing a little extra each day, but I finally caught up. In fact, during the last week, I was a couple thousand words ahead! This morning, the last day, I only had about 400 words left, which i was able to finish up pretty quickly.
And I did it! I won!!! I didn’t think I could actually do it, but by taking time to write every single day, and by pushing through, even when it was hard and I didn’t feel a bit like writing… I did it.
It was hard. But it was fun. And it was so worth it! I’m really glad I did this.
All the same though, I’m glad it’s over…! 50,000 words is a lot, and I’m kinda pooped! I’m pretty sure I’ve written more in this month, than I have in the last two years. NaNo has helped me re-ignite my love for writing. I definitely want to do it again, but…. next year! π π π π

Are you a writer? Did any of you do NaNoWriMo this year, or in past years? π
Yay! Congratulations, Rosy! That’s super exciting!π
I also love to write but I’ve never done NaNoWriMo before…there’s a new one (Christian one) called King’s Daughters Writing Camp. Here’s the link belowπ

WOW, Rosy!! Congrats for making it to 50k!!!! I have always wanted to do NaNo, but never have. I was actually planning to do it this year, but school was too hectic for me to try. The only thing I’ve done is Camp NaNoWriMo in April for the first time this year, which was fun! I think I hit close to 6k; I had a tiny goal, since I hadn’t written a story in sooo long. XD

Thanks, Heaven!! I haven’t done Camp NaNo yet, but I hope to next year!!!! π Even if I only shoot for a smaller goal like you did! π Sometimes even that much is hard, haha! π

Woohoo!!! Great job, Rosy! I’ve attempted NaNo in the past but never succeeded. I prefer Camp, where I can set my own goals. π (I have won Camp before.) And most recently I did the King’s Daughter’s Writing Camp, which I liked. However, I didn’t participate this November.
Anyway, great job!! I hope I can someday read your story. π

Congratulations on sticking with it and finishing!!! I would love to do NaNoWriMo some year – maybe next year. About how much time do you think it took you per day averaged out?

Thank you ver much! Good question. I’m really not sure, but I think I’d estimate 1 to 3 hours of writing time each day. π π
