April 2021, Recap

Hey everyone!

I’m so sorry about my unannounced break from blogging. XD I was super busy, we went on a trip, I was unmotivated for a while, and I just never found time to sit down and make a post. Between all those things, I’ve been gone for almost a month now… In fact, my last post was my March Recap. Oops!!

Anyway, back to the original purpose of this post…. IT’S MAY!!! (Well, as of tomorrow) 😉 (Is anyone else as shocked as I am? Comment below) XD

April 2021

~ I got the books in the mail that I talked about in my Book Haul post! (Very quick background story: I bought the book Little Women on a used books website, and it ended up being a very revised kid’s version… So I bought it again!)

This time, it was the original, and IT’S SOOO THICK!!! I love it…. 😍 I’m really excited to read it. (I love thick books!!!)

And I also tagged on two Anne of Green Gables books, since I had a $5 coupon. I’m excited for those too! 😀

~ A couple pictures from Church.

~I planted a (very) small flower garden! I planted zinnias and sunflowers. I’m really excited for them to come up!!! 😀 I’ll probably post pictures when they bloom, but until then, you’ll have to content yourself with this beautiful picture of… dirt.

My poor flower bed looks rather forlorn at this point, but don’t worry, something will *probably* come up. 😉 😂

~ I sewed a skirt and an apron! I really love how they turned out. 😄

~ Selfies with Lizzie XD (Believe me, I had to search through the pictures for a decent one that wasn’t too goofy) 😂

And honestly, not a whole ton else happened (that I remember at least…..) XD

ONLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY MONTH!

(In case you thought I had no more pictures to show you…. Believe me, I have a lot.) However, I want to do a ful post on it later, so I’m going to *try* and choose only a few to show you for now. 😉

~We went to my grandparent’s house this month, and we had a super fun time!! I had a lot of fun with my grandparents, and my aunt, and I also got to meet my uncle’s girlfriend, Carolina. 😀 I’d been friends with her online for a while, and it was so great to finally meet her! 💖

And I have a TON more pictures, that will just have to wait till a later post. 😄 It was a great time though! 😀 ❤️

In April, I….

Book Haul!

Standard
Book Haul!

Hey everyone!

I love books…. But I’ve literally never, EVER bought a book for myself. Like, ever. Until now.

I’ve always just read my family’s books, and have never lacked another book to read, and still don’t. (We have the equivalent of 10 bookshelves…) But there’s just something about OWNING a book…. It’s awesome.

Books are just to expensive to buy new, and I wasn’t willing to spend my life savings on one book. So I never did.

HOWEVER.

(That “however” is a very important part of this post.)

I recently found an online book store called ThriftBooks. There, I found a bunch of great books, many for only $4-5!!!!

*queue shocked gasps*

Of course, there were some more expensive then that. But the main books I wanted were around that price. And WOWWW, I’m just like…. I CAN FINALLY AFFORD BOOKS!!!!!!!

And I bought 7 books. For $26 dollars!! A pretty awesome deal for a little over a month’s “income”, if I do say so myself! 😂 😄

I really had to restrain myself to not buy more than 7. Talk about self-control, folks! LOL 😂

This is a picture representing my excitement, before I calmed down enough to take decent pictures…

Anyway, now that that rant is over, here are the books that I got. 😀

First, I got this little series by Jeri Massi. Some Through the Fire, and All Through the Blood. I’ve read several other good books by this author, so I’m excite for these! Plus, look how THICK they are!! 😍

Next, I’ve always wanted to read Little Women, but I haven’t yet. (Although I’m very familiar with the story.) However, it ended up being a condensed version for kids, which was a bit disappointing, but I’ll still enjoy reading it, lol! And it only cost like 3 dollars, so I’m not mad about it. 😉 I’ll probably buy the real one later though!

The last 4 books are ALL by Leslie and/or Eric Ludy. I love their books, and these were actually the original books I was going to buy. Her books are very encouraging and I’ve learned a lot from the ones I’ve read.

I am looking forward to reading this one the most probably. 😀

So yeah, those were the books I bought right there! I haven’t read any of them yet actually. They just came in the mail yesterday! (I was over the moon excited when I was opening them! XD) I can’t decide which to read first!!!!! #bookloverproblems 🤣

Ok, now, I wasn’t planning on buying any more books after having just bought those. But when I went to find the original Little Women (on another site similar to Thriftbooks) they gave me $5…. HOW CAN I PASS THAT UP?!?! So I bought the Little Women book, and then I threw in 2 Anne of Green Gables books. So I spent another $10. But for 3 books!!!!

My wallet is still recovering.

BUT I’M SO EXCITED!!!

I can’t show you pictures of the actual books, because I uh, just bought them literally MINUTES ago, and for some reason, they haven’t come in the mail yet. But here’s the closest to a picture I have – a screenshot of the cart! 😂

(And yes, I know that those Anne books are not in order…. My sister said it would OK to not read them in order, and these are the ones she thought I’d like best. I’ve only read the first one so far. 😉 )

So yeah. I’m more than a little excited to read these books!!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post!

OH, before I leave!!!! If you guys want to get cheap books from ThriftBook too, use THIS LINK to get 15% off, (and give me points toward a free book!!) 😀

~Rosy 💖 🌻

P.S. Have you guys read any of these? Have you ever bought from ThriftBooks?

Disclaimer: I can’t fully recommend these books as I haven’t read them yet, however all of these books I am either very familiar with, or trust the author. 🙂

1-2228(30).jpg

Birthday, Baptism, and Border Trip. (And More!)

Standard

Hi everyone! I have a big long post for you today, so beware. 😉 XD

Hey, I just realized I could call this post The Three B’s for short… XD 😂🤣😜

Anyway…! 🙃

We had a really busy and exciting two weeks during my media fast. One of the first things that happened was the birthday party of my friend, Karen. She turned 15. In Mexico, when a girl turns 15 she’s basically considered an adult and eligible for marriage. (Wow, that’s crazy isn’t it??? I can’t even imagine… XD) Anyway, she asked me to take pictures at the party for her. Which I did, and enjoyed doing! 😉 😀

Here are a few of them… 🙂

There was also a piñata for the kids, although the adults joined in some too. I did not get any good picture of that since it was night, but here’s something from my Dad’s phone… Terrible picture, but it’ll do… 😉

20190427_210456

And, in other, really exciting news, we had our first baptism at the church we’re planting here in Mexico!! 😀 It was a man named Alejandro (Alexander), and it’s been so awesome to see God working in his, and his wife’s, life. Praise the Lord!!! He is so good.

Here’s a slideshow I put together with the pictures I took during church last Sunday, the Baptism, and the meal afterwards. (Not to mention the water fight that was bound to happen when you have kids and young adults standing around with nothing much else to do… XD ) It was a great time. 😀

The day before yesterday my Dad, Philip, Bekah and I took a trip up to the El Paso, Texas to get our mail, and get some supplies. This time we planned on making it there and back in one day! 😀 Usually we have to stay a night in a hotel.

We got up at 3:00 and left at 3:30 am. We drove for a few hours until we got to a small town to get breakfast. We got food for all four of us, for the equivalent of $3.50 US dollars. We had to laugh about how much food for us all would have costed in the States, and how different Mexico and the States are from eachother! XD

We reached the border by around… 9:00 am I think. We crossed uneventfully, and drove to El Paso which was nearby the border crossing. We couldn’t go to Costco yet, since it opens at ten, so we went to Goodwill, where we bought… Nothing! Then we went to Savers, where we bought… Nothing! XD 😦 ;P After that, we went to Walmart, and a few other places. We ate lunch at Costco. Well, actually we got lunch at Costco, brought it to the car and ate it there! 😉 Then we did a few other things, including picking up our mail, then heading across the border again. We were home by 9:30 that night! We were so tired… XD

20190507_101927

Philip and I, while Dad and Bekah were in an auto parts store… And Dad left his phone. So… XD

20190507_102047

And, yeah… I think that was most of the big things that happened… At least that I can think of. 😉

In other random news….

I read…

This book:

⬇︎Summer of Suspense by C.R. Hedgcock. this book was really good! I think  would rate it… 4 or 4 1/2 stars… 😉 I would definitely recommend this one!

⬇︎This book: For One Moment by Christmas Carol Kauffman. guys. This book… 😫😭 Is so good… And sad… (Which is why I’m frowning in one of the pictures… ) Anyway, this is a great book. (One of the rare few that actually make me cry!) I would rate it 6 stars! 😁

And I’ve read several more books lately, but I won’t list them all. 😉

Baby kisses ❤ ❤ ❤

Ohhhhh!!!!! There’s one thing I have to tell you guys!!! First you have to guess…

What, you don’t like to guess?

Ok, fine. 😉 XD

We’re going… SOUTH!!! YES! To Alabama and Georgia… I am so excited!!! It’s mainly for a family reunion, since my Mom has lots of family there. We’re also going to get to see some friends for the first time. (I’m especially excited to finally get to meet my friend, Amie, from Crazy A!!! 😀 ) Anyway, it’s still almost a month until we leave. I think we leave on the 3rd or 4th of June… Something like that. 🙂 We are all waaay excited!!! 😀

Before I leave, here is a really good quote I found recently. It really made me think.

Snowball and the Missing Apple Blog Tour: Interview with Amie! (+A Giveaway!!!)

Screen Shot 2019-02-07 at 2.34.55 PM

Hey everyone!!! Today I’m super, duper excited to be here with my friend  Amie ,from Crazy A!

About the Author:

IMG_9676

Amie is a wild, crazy writer who is either daydreaming or talking a hundred miles an hour.  When she is not doing those two things, she is probably reading or jamming on one of the four instruments she plays.  Writing is her overwhelming passion, but she is also passionate about horses, music, acting, photography, blogging, and living life to glorify her Creator and Lord.  She is the second oldest of seven children and enjoys being dramatic with her four sisters. Whether it is in Amie’s writing or in her words, she enjoys making people laughing.

About the Book:

DSC_0216

Snowball loves apples.  When his apple goes missing, he knows that he must find who took it.  A charming children’s book with funny pictures, an engaging message, and animals.  Perfect for early readers or to read aloud to your 2-5 year old.

Guys, does that not look like the cutest book EVER?!?!? Seriously, it’s adorable!!! 😀

Anyway, I have had the great privilege of interviewing Amie about her book. Here we go!

So Amie, when did you start writing, and why?

I started actually writing at eight, though I’ve always been coming up with stories and trying to write them down.  When I was little I would scribble things in a notebook and tell my older brother they were a story. Then when he told me I didn’t write words, I tried to write wordless picture books…But finally, I learned how to spell.  I didn’t begin to write seriously until I was twelve, and I started then to help me process and avoid a hard time of my life.

Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what music do you listen to the most?

I do.  Throughout writing this book, I mostly listened to Southern Raised, Lawson Bates, and the Bontrager Family Singers.
What is your favorite childhood book?

Ooh, good questions!  I loved “The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales” by Usborne.  I think that started my love for farming. I also liked Max Lucado’s “Oak Inside the Acorn.”

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever dealt with writer’s block, though I have been discouraged a few times.  Try walking away from a project, and if that doesn’t work, try pressing on. Just write words, and make them into a story.
What would you say to a new writer, who’s struggling?

*clears throat* Listen, it’s hard now, just like after starting to run, you’ll be sore, but after the soreness passes, it’s way worth the work.  Just keep pressing on, and don’t look back.
How often do you write?

I write every day, and multiple times a day.

What time of day do you like write?

Mostly early in the morning, mid day, and in the evening.  Or in other words, when I can.
Which of the Seven Wonders of the world do you want to visit the most?

The Pyramid, definitely.

Why did you publish this book?

Because I thought it would be fun to let other children read the story my siblings love.  And I’m looking forward to reviews. 😀

Do you plan to publish more books in the future?

Lord willing, I do.

Bonus Question: What is your personal opinion on blue cheese?

BLAH.  You might love blue cheese, but you can keep it, and PLEASE keep the blue cheese dressing away from the ranch.  They look slightly similar, and might be confused.

Thanks for interviewing me, Rosy!

Thank YOU, Amie! And apparently, we share opinions on blue cheese. Yuck… 😛 XD

Blog Collab with Ani!

Standard

Hey all! Over the past week, my new friend, Ani, and I have been working on this blog collab! We had a blast asking and answering each other’s questions, and comparing our answers. Oh, and be sure to check out Ani’s awesome blog, here!

Ani came up with half of the questions, and I came up with the other half. And we both answered all of them! So, here they are!!!

What are you most afraid of?

Ani: Spiders. For some reason ever since I was little, I have been scared to death of spiders. I do not just dislike them–I am scared of them!

Rosy: Me? Afraid? Just kidding, lol! Well, I’m not sure on one thing I’m scared of more than anything else. But one thing I am afraid of is failure. And rejection… oh wait, that was two things… 😛

If you could choose one country on the world to visit, which would it be?

Ani: I have always thought it would be so cool to go abroad, so definitely Europe. Plus, there is so much history there!

Rosy: There’s quite a few places I’d love to visit. Europe is one of them. It would be so cool to go to London! Russia would be awesome too. So would Australia… 😀

What color do you think looks best on you?

Ani: I would say dark colors look best on me. Specifically navy blue, black, and burgundy.

Rosy: I’d say the color blue. Most of my clothes are either blue or green!!! XD

What kind of shoes do you wear the most?

Ani:  I wear sneakers (like Vans) a lot because they are very comfortable and I walk a lot.

Rosy: I wear canvas shoes or boots a lot, especially in the fall and winter. In the summer I usually wear flip-flops, or just go barefoot! XD

What was the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Ani: I’ve done a lot of crazy things in my life (like hiking Rim-River-Rim in the Grand Canyon in just one day when i was 10)! However, the craziest thing I’ve done that I’m most proud of is reading the entire Bible through in just 2 weeks when I was 12 years old. My Sunday school had a competition that whoever read the entire Bible from cover to cover first would win 100 dollars. So while I came away from the competition 100 dollars richer, I also came away 100 times closer in my walk with the Lord–which is the most important!

Rosy: I honestly don’t know… I mean, I never do crazy things. Jk, I probably do. My sister says I do. 😉 Well, one crazy thing I did once, was when my mom told me to throw a banana peel away, I wouldn’t do it, and held it over the trash can for two hours, stubbornly refusing to let go!!! Hopefully I will set your mind at ease when I tell you I was only two! XD

Click “shuffle” on your Youtube playlist, and name the first 3 songs that play.

Ani: I don’t listen to songs on YouTube, however, I listen to Spotify all the time. These are the first three songs off my Spotify playlist: 1.) “Priceless” by For King and Country, 2.) “A Million Dreams” by the Piano Guys, and 3.) “Fight Song/Amazing Grace” by the Piano Guys

Rosy:

Lit High the Name of Jesus

How many U.S. states have you ever been too?

Ani: Nine. Arizona, California, Wyoming, Idaho, Michigan, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Utah.

Rosy: I think 10. 🙂 Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi , Alabama, and Georgia.

Describe the area you live in.

Ani: I live in a very dry, very hot desert. When I look out my windows, I see saguaros and other cactus, mesquite trees, and dirt all surrounded by beautiful, tall mountains! I also see my donkey, and my dogs! :))

Rosy: We live in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. It’s a prairie like area, but surrounded on almost sides by mountains.

Ask a family member or friend to describe you in 4 words. What did they say?

Ani: Determined, Studious, Focused, Diligent.

Rosy: I asked my friend, and she said, “talkative, fun, ornery, and sweet. In other words: A really good friend.

Oh whew, that was not as bad I thought it might be! 😛 Except for the ornery. Hmmm, I have no clue where she got that… 😉

Do you like snakes?

Ani: They’re okay. I don’t hate them but I don’t love them either.

Rosy: Actually, I kinda do like small, non-venomous snakes. I really want a pet Garter Snake! And it would be so cool to at least touch a Giant Anaconda, lol!

This snake was in our tree. It was sooo fun to photograph!!!

Would you rather wear shoes every single second for the rest of your life or never be allowed to wear shoes ever again?

Ani: I would rather always have to wear shoes. I am a wimp when it comes to walking barefoot.

Rosy: That’s a bit hard, because I go barefoot so often in the summer, but I think I’d rather wear shoes all the time.

What was the last thing that you did for the first time?

Ani: I flew in an airplane for the first time about a month and a half ago!! (It was a private plane flown by my friend’s dad).

Rosy: Well, I’m doing a blog collab for the first time right now… 😉

What’s the first thing you do when you are bored?

Ani: Me? Bored? Haha, I’m just kidding XD. I think I probably either pick up a book, or my tablet (I’m sorry–that is 2 answers!).

Rosy: Read a book or go outside and take pictures… 😀

If you could have dinner with any three people from history, who would they be?

Ani: Desmond Doss, George Washington, and Esther.

Rosy: Haha, wow, good question! And hard! Hmmm… George Washington… Oh, can I do Bible characters? It would be sooo amazing to talk to Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 And Joseph. 🙂

If you were given a million dollars today, how would you spend it?

Ani: I would buy the last 5 books I need to complete the Mandie series by Lois Gladys Leppard (I have been wanting to complete this series for ever!) and save the rest for a car, college, etc.

Rosy: Cool! XD I would buy a really good camera, and some photography equipment, and save the rest.

If you had to make an alias, what would your name be?

Ani: Hmmm…I really like my name, but if I was forced to come up with an alias, I might pick Keanna  (pronounced Kee-o-nu) since it is my pen name!

Rosy: Um, never thought about it. :/ like, I honestly never have… I like my name… XD

If you had to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Ani: THM Cinnamon Bundt Cake (it’s a sugar free and gluten free bundt cake that my mom makes that is literally the BEST thing EVER!! You can definitely not tell that it has no sugar and is healthy for you!)

Rosy: Ew, I hope that never happens… Maybe salad? It’s healthy, yummy, and I wouldn’t get sick of it too fast.

If a genie granted you 3 wishes right now, what would you wish for?

Ani: Unlimited books, wishes, and love.

Rosy: If a genie granted me any wishes, I would be shocked and horrified!!! But hmmm, 3 wishes… I’d wish for a better camera with equipment. All the books on my wishlist. Aaaand… A lifetime supply of wishes! 😛 XD 😉

If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you have wanted to see?

Ani: I would have loved to watch Jesus walk on water! I bet that would have been the coolest thing!

Rosy: Good question. I guess there are a lot of things I would have loved to have watched. I’ve always wondered what the parting of the Red Sea was like… That’d be so cool to see!!!

What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?

Ani: Well, I have eaten crickets and menudo before…and…are you ready for this?….I am not proud of it…dog poop. When I was around 3, my older sister dared me to eat a small piece and told me that if I ate it she would eat it too. Well me being the sweet and naive 3 year old I was, I ate it. (I didn’t find out until years later that my sister just pretended to eat it….) Yes, I know…WAY too TMI!

Rosy: Well, I haven’t eaten a whole lot of strange things… I’ve eaten grasshopper. I’ve eaten alligator. I tried dog food once once, but I ended up feeling sorry for our poor puppy… 😛 🙂

What does a normal day look like in your house?

Ani: I agree with Rosy–it depends on what day. Almost every day of the week is different for us. However, I always get up at 5 AM and work out with my mom. I do this every single day of the week except Sundays and unless we don’t have jump rope practice. If we don’t have piano lessons, jump rope practice, or if I don’t babysit, this is what the rest of the day will typically be like. 6:15(or whenever I finish my workout)-7 Bible time; 7:00-8:00 math; 8:00-9:00 breakfast and clean up; 9:00-12:00 School; 12:00-1:00 lunch; 1:00-4:00 Finish school and practice piano; 4:00 Cleanup; 5:00 Free time, work on my blog, read, spend time on my tablet, or make dinner; 6:30 Dinner and family time 8:00 read and write in diary; 9:00 sleep

Rosy: It depend on which normal day… XD Most days, I get up, get dressed and read my Bible, eat breakfast, do chores, and work on school until lunch. We eat lunch (usually beans), do lunch chores and then I work on school until I’m finished. After that I usually have another chore, and then free time. We have supper, supper chores, family worship, and sometimes free time until bed. 🙂

Wow, that was a long post. And very wordy.  😛 (1,682 words!) But that’s not bad, sooo! XD Yeah. If you read through this whole thing, then congratulations! You made it! Finally.
