August 2021 Recap

Hey everybody!!

Can you believe it’s already September?! I’m especially excited for this month, because 1) AUTUMN! and 2) We’re planning on taking a trip to go to Family Camp with our Church there. We haven’t seen them in a year now (which is waayyy too long), and we’re really, really, extremely excited!!! That’s near the end of the month, and I’m very sure you’ll hear lots about it in future posts. ๐Ÿ˜€ So exciting!

This post, however, is about August, not September, so let’s get into it!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Early in the month, our family traveled to a town a few hours away to visit some good friends of ours and to start of some evangelical meetings there. We stayed for a couple of days, and had a really good time!

A bunch of us got up early(ish) in the morning to go hiking with our friends in the mountains Ok, large hills by the town. We hiked for a couple of miles, but it felt like longer, as some parts weren’t super easy going. It was loads of fun though! The little kids did a great job keeping up. ๐Ÿ˜„

The view was really pretty from the top!!

Later that afternoon we played soccer until we were tired out, and then they taught us a Mexican game that I forget the name of…. It was kinda similar to baseball, but also quite different. I don’t even know how to play baseball. But they told me it was similar, so. Lol!

After that we rested, and watched the kids get wet and muddy, and catch toads. It was really hot and dry, so the water felt good. ๐Ÿ˜‚

That evening we held a meeting inside our friend’s pizza place, which went well. ๐Ÿ™‚ We left at around… 8:00 maybe? And got home around 11 or 12. ๐Ÿ˜„ It was a really good time!!

I can’t think of any other major events or anything that happened after that, so here are a few random photos for you guys. ๐Ÿ˜€

James and Me!
Mom and the youngest kids doing school
Andy and a garter snake he caught

Some pictures of our family on a walk. I got carried away taking pictures with my brother’s camera. The selfie stick was fun, lol! I won’t post all the pictures (there were a lot XD), but here are a couple of the best ones.

Dad doing a Bible study with some friends of ours in the mountains
Dad and a few of the kids at a restaurant during a border trip

April 2021, Recap

Hey everyone!

I’m so sorry about my unannounced break from blogging. XD I was super busy, we went on a trip, I was unmotivated for a while, and I just never found time to sit down and make a post. Between all those things, I’ve been gone for almost a month now… In fact, my last post was my March Recap. Oops!!

Anyway, back to the original purpose of this post…. IT’S MAY!!! (Well, as of tomorrow) ๐Ÿ˜‰ (Is anyone else as shocked as I am? Comment below) XD

April 2021

~ I got the books in the mail that I talked about in my Book Haul post! (Very quick background story: I bought the book Little Women on a used books website, and it ended up being a very revised kid’s version… So I bought it again!)

This time, it was the original, and IT’S SOOO THICK!!! I love it…. ๐Ÿ˜ I’m really excited to read it. (I love thick books!!!)

And I also tagged on two Anne of Green Gables books, since I had a $5 coupon. I’m excited for those too! ๐Ÿ˜€

~ A couple pictures from Church.

~I planted a (very) small flower garden! I planted zinnias and sunflowers. I’m really excited for them to come up!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ll probably post pictures when they bloom, but until then, you’ll have to content yourself with this beautiful picture of… dirt.

My poor flower bed looks rather forlorn at this point, but don’t worry, something will *probably* come up. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‚

~ I sewed a skirt and an apron! I really love how they turned out. ๐Ÿ˜„

~ Selfies with Lizzie XD (Believe me, I had to search through the pictures for a decent one that wasn’t too goofy) ๐Ÿ˜‚

And honestly, not a whole ton else happened (that I remember at least…..) XD

ONLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY MONTH!

(In case you thought I had no more pictures to show you…. Believe me, I have a lot.) However, I want to do a ful post on it later, so I’m going to *try* and choose only a few to show you for now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

~We went to my grandparent’s house this month, and we had a super fun time!! I had a lot of fun with my grandparents, and my aunt, and I also got to meet my uncle’s girlfriend, Carolina. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’d been friends with her online for a while, and it was so great to finally meet her! ๐Ÿ’–

And I have a TON more pictures, that will just have to wait till a later post. ๐Ÿ˜„ It was a great time though! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค๏ธ

In April, I….

Book Haul!

Standard
Book Haul!

Hey everyone!

I love books…. But I’ve literally never, EVER bought a book for myself. Like, ever. Until now.

I’ve always just read my family’s books, and have never lacked another book to read, and still don’t. (We have the equivalent of 10 bookshelves…) But there’s just something about OWNING a book…. It’s awesome.

Books are just to expensive to buy new, and I wasn’t willing to spend my life savings on one book. So I never did.

HOWEVER.

(That “however” is a very important part of this post.)

I recently found an online book store called ThriftBooks. There, I found a bunch of great books, many for only $4-5!!!!

*queue shocked gasps*

Of course, there were some more expensive then that. But the main books I wanted were around that price. And WOWWW, I’m just like…. I CAN FINALLY AFFORD BOOKS!!!!!!!

And I bought 7 books. For $26 dollars!! A pretty awesome deal for a little over a month’s “income”, if I do say so myself! ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜„

I really had to restrain myself to not buy more than 7. Talk about self-control, folks! LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is a picture representing my excitement, before I calmed down enough to take decent pictures…

Anyway, now that that rant is over, here are the books that I got. ๐Ÿ˜€

First, I got this little series by Jeri Massi. Some Through the Fire, and All Through the Blood. I’ve read several other good books by this author, so I’m excite for these! Plus, look how THICK they are!! ๐Ÿ˜

Next, I’ve always wanted to read Little Women, but I haven’t yet. (Although I’m very familiar with the story.) However, it ended up being a condensed version for kids, which was a bit disappointing, but I’ll still enjoy reading it, lol! And it only cost like 3 dollars, so I’m not mad about it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ll probably buy the real one later though!

The last 4 books are ALL by Leslie and/or Eric Ludy. I love their books, and these were actually the original books I was going to buy. Her books are very encouraging and I’ve learned a lot from the ones I’ve read.

I am looking forward to reading this one the most probably. ๐Ÿ˜€

So yeah, those were the books I bought right there! I haven’t read any of them yet actually. They just came in the mail yesterday! (I was over the moon excited when I was opening them! XD) I can’t decide which to read first!!!!! #bookloverproblems ๐Ÿคฃ

Ok, now, I wasn’t planning on buying any more books after having just bought those. But when I went to find the original Little Women (on another site similar to Thriftbooks) they gave me $5…. HOW CAN I PASS THAT UP?!?! So I bought the Little Women book, and then I threw in 2 Anne of Green Gables books. So I spent another $10. But for 3 books!!!!

My wallet is still recovering.

BUT I’M SO EXCITED!!!

I can’t show you pictures of the actual books, because I uh, just bought them literally MINUTES ago, and for some reason, they haven’t come in the mail yet. But here’s the closest to a picture I have – a screenshot of the cart! ๐Ÿ˜‚

(And yes, I know that those Anne books are not in order…. My sister said it would OK to not read them in order, and these are the ones she thought I’d like best. I’ve only read the first one so far. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

So yeah. I’m more than a little excited to read these books!!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post!

OH, before I leave!!!! If you guys want to get cheap books from ThriftBook too, use THIS LINK to get 15% off, (and give me points toward a free book!!) ๐Ÿ˜€

~Rosy ๐Ÿ’– ๐ŸŒป

P.S. Have you guys read any of these? Have you ever bought from ThriftBooks?

Disclaimer: I can’t fully recommend these books as I haven’t read them yet, however all of these books I am either very familiar with, or trust the author. ๐Ÿ™‚

Birthday, Baptism, and Border Trip. (And More!)

Standard

Hi everyone! I have a big long post for you today, so beware. ๐Ÿ˜‰ XD

Hey, I just realized I could call this post The Three B’s for short… XD ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜œ

Anyway…! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

We had a really busy and exciting two weeks during my media fast. One of the first things that happened was the birthday party of my friend, Karen. She turned 15. In Mexico, when a girl turns 15 she’s basically considered an adult and eligible for marriage. (Wow, that’s crazy isn’t it??? I can’t even imagine… XD) Anyway, she asked me to take pictures at the party for her. Which I did, and enjoyed doing! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Here are a few of them… ๐Ÿ™‚

There was also a piรฑata for the kids, although the adults joined in some too. I did not get any good picture of that since it was night, but here’s something from my Dad’s phone… Terrible picture, but it’ll do… ๐Ÿ˜‰

20190427_210456

And, in other, really exciting news, we had our first baptism at the church we’re planting here in Mexico!! ๐Ÿ˜€ It was a man named Alejandro (Alexander), and it’s been so awesome to see God working in his, and his wife’s, life. Praise the Lord!!! He is so good.

Here’s a slideshow I put together with the pictures I took during church last Sunday, the Baptism, and the meal afterwards. (Not to mention the water fight that was bound to happen when you have kids and young adults standing around with nothing much else to do… XD ) It was a great time. ๐Ÿ˜€

The day before yesterday my Dad, Philip, Bekah and I took a trip up to the El Paso, Texas to get our mail, and get some supplies. This time we planned on making it there and back in one day! ๐Ÿ˜€ Usually we have to stay a night in a hotel.

We got up at 3:00 and left at 3:30 am. We drove for a few hours until we got to a small town to get breakfast. We got food for all four of us, for the equivalent of $3.50 US dollars. We had to laugh about how much food for us all would have costed in the States, and how different Mexico and the States are from eachother! XD

We reached the border by around… 9:00 am I think. We crossed uneventfully, and drove to El Paso which was nearby the border crossing. We couldn’t go to Costco yet, since it opens at ten, so we went to Goodwill, where we bought… Nothing! Then we went to Savers, where we bought… Nothing! XD ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ;P After that, we went to Walmart, and a few other places. We ate lunch at Costco. Well, actually we got lunch at Costco, brought it to the car and ate it there! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then we did a few other things, including picking up our mail, then heading across the border again. We were home by 9:30 that night! We were so tired… XD

20190507_101927

Philip and I, while Dad and Bekah were in an auto parts store… And Dad left his phone. So… XD

20190507_102047

And, yeah… I think that was most of the big things that happened… At least that I can think of. ๐Ÿ˜‰

In other random news….

I read…

This book:

โฌ‡๏ธŽSummer of Suspense by C.R. Hedgcock. this book was really good! I thinkย  would rate it… 4 or 4 1/2 stars… ๐Ÿ˜‰ I would definitely recommend this one!

Ohhhhh!!!!! There’s one thing Iย haveย to tell you guys!!! First you have to guess…

What, you don’t like to guess?

Ok, fine. ๐Ÿ˜‰ XD

We’re going… SOUTH!!! YES! To Alabama and Georgia… I am so excited!!! It’s mainly for a family reunion, since my Mom has lots of family there. We’re also going to get to see some friends for the first time. (I’m especially excited to finally get to meet my friend, Amie, from Crazy A!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ) Anyway, it’s still almost a month until we leave. I think we leave on the 3rd or 4th of June… Something like that. ๐Ÿ™‚ We are all waaay excited!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Before I leave, here is a really good quote I found recently. It really made me think.

About the Author:

IMG_9676

Amie is a wild, crazy writer who is either daydreaming or talking a hundred miles an hour. ย When she is not doing those two things, she is probably reading or jamming on one of the four instruments she plays. ย Writing is her overwhelming passion, but she is also passionate about horses, music, acting, photography, blogging, and living life to glorify her Creator and Lord. ย She is the second oldest of seven children and enjoys being dramatic with her four sisters. Whether it is in Amieโ€™s writing or in her words, she enjoys making people laughing.

About the Book:

DSC_0216

Snowball loves apples. ย When his apple goes missing, he knows that he must find who took it. ย A charming children’s book with funny pictures, an engaging message, and animals. ย Perfect for early readers or to read aloud to your 2-5 year old.

Guys, does that not look like the cutest book EVER?!?!? Seriously, it’s adorable!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Anyway, I have had the great privilege of interviewing Amie about her book. Here we go!

So Amie, when did you start writing, and why?

I started actually writing at eight, though Iโ€™ve always been coming up with stories and trying to write them down. ย When I was little I would scribble things in a notebook and tell my older brother they were a story. Then when he told me I didnโ€™t write words, I tried to write wordless picture books…But finally, I learned how to spell. ย I didnโ€™t begin to write seriously until I was twelve, and I started then to help me process and avoid a hard time of my life.

Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what music do you listen to the most?

I do. ย Throughout writing this book, I mostly listened to Southern Raised, Lawson Bates, and the Bontrager Family Singers.
What is your favorite childhood book?

Ooh, good questions! ย I loved โ€œThe Complete Book of Farmyard Talesโ€ by Usborne. ย I think that started my love for farming. I also liked Max Lucadoโ€™s โ€œOak Inside the Acorn.โ€

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Honestly, I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™ve ever dealt with writerโ€™s block, though I have been discouraged a few times. ย Try walking away from a project, and if that doesnโ€™t work, try pressing on. Just write words, and make them into a story.
What would you say to a new writer, whoโ€™s struggling?

*clears throat* Listen, itโ€™s hard now, just like after starting to run, youโ€™ll be sore, but after the soreness passes, itโ€™s way worth the work. ย Just keep pressing on, and donโ€™t look back.
How often do you write?

I write every day, and multiple times a day.

ย
What time of day do you like write?

Mostly early in the morning, mid day, and in the evening. ย Or in other words, when I can.
Which of the Seven Wonders of the world do you want to visit the most?

The Pyramid, definitely.

ย

Why did you publish this book?

Because I thought it would be fun to let other children read the story my siblings love. ย And Iโ€™m looking forward to reviews. ๐Ÿ˜€

Do you plan to publish more books in the future?

Lord willing, I do.

Bonus Question: What is your personal opinion on blue cheese?

BLAH. ย You might love blue cheese, but you can keep it, and PLEASE keep the blue cheese dressing away from the ranch. ย They look slightly similar, and might be confused.

Thanks for interviewing me, Rosy!

Thank YOU, Amie! And apparently, we share opinions on blue cheese. Yuck… ๐Ÿ˜› XD
