How was everyone’s month? October went by so fast for me! That may be because I spent more than half of it pretty sick with Covid. More on that later. Thankfully, I’m getting really close to being being better!
October started with us still in Arizona, visiting our friends there. It was a really good time!! October 2nd was my good friends, Maggie and Jon’s wedding. ❤️
It was a really beautiful wedding!! ❤️
It was a great trip!! It was amazing too see our friends there after quite a while.
We drove home soon after, and everyone was super tired from the trip. We all got sick almost as soon as we arrived. 😂 I didn’t do a whole lot during that time except sleep, read and do a bit of school when I could. That sickness lasted for about a week I think, and we were all glad when it was over. 🙂
I decorated my bulletin board and dresser for fall. I pressed some leaves, printed some pictures, and my friend Kyra made the “thankful” sign. I love how everything ended up looking!! 🍁
Mmm, pumpkin pie!! 🥧
Playing Catan with some of my siblings. 😀
Some friends of ours that we don’t get to see very often visited us for Church. It was a really good time!!
Vannesa, me, Yeseña and Grace. ❤️ It was really good to visit with them!!
Soon after that, we got sick… again. This time even worse – we’re pretty sure it was Covid. Almost all of us lost our taste and smell, which was not fun! It lasted a couple of weeks, but thankfully, we’re all mostly better now.
Since we were sick for so much of October, I don’t really have many more pictures or interesting things that happened. It was sad to be sick so much then, because I love October – but hopefully November will be better!!
In October, I…
~A Man Called Peter (5 stars!!)
~Scout and the Abandoned Mill (4 stars)
~Memorable Women of the Puritan Times Volume One (4 Stars)
~The first part of Little Women (5 Stars)
I didn’t end up reading very much October – maybe it’s because I burned myself out reading 16 books in September, haha! I’m hoping to read more in November.
Despite being sick a lot of the time, October was still a great month. 😀 As Anne of Green Gables once said… “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” 😉 I’m glad we have Novembers too, and I’m really excited for this month!
What did you do in October? Do you have any plans for November?
Today I have the pleasure of reviewing a really neat planner, made by Bethany at The Ruby in the Rough. She designed the whole thing herself, and I really love how pretty she made it!
The entire Simplicity Planner pack comes comes in 2 pdf files. 1. The Planner itself, 2. Instruction and recommended use for the planner. A super fun sticker and washi tape kit can be purchased separately!
I really appreciated the helpful, detailed instructions Bethany included for printing the planner correctly, and suggested uses and tips for using it.
The Sticker Kit was adorable, with tons of different themed stickers and washi tapes for different holidays and seasons. And since they’re printable, you can use them over and over, and never run out!
Later, I’m planning on using them to make some DIY stickers, using THIS METHOD. It’s a lot of fun!!
The kit also included several cute bookmarks, which was really fun! You can use them for the planner, or you could just use them to save your spot in a regular book too. Here I have it in my Bible. It works nicely!
Now on to the planner itself!!
I had a bit of trouble getting it to print correctly, until I remembered the instructions it came with. Though it was a teensy bit tedious, I figured it out with those. 🙂
There are enough weekly pages to last you the entire year, and each week has a different color theme, which I love!
I really love how each week has it’s own cute picture in the corner, and a Bible verse!
Here are some more pictures of the planner from Bethany, what it looks like, and what you should expect. 🙂
And now, for some exciting news…. One of you can win your own Simplicity Planner!! Bethany is giving away one of her planners, as well as the sticker kit which come with it, to one of you guys. Everyone who enters will get complete access to Bethany’s free resource library, which includes a prayer journal and a complete Proverbs 31 Woman coloring book. So go on over and enter this great giveaway!! 😀
Everything came in good time, and in good packaging. The envelopes Susan used for her products are really cute, and I’ll definitely be reusing them in the future!
First off, I received some adorable succulent stickers, which I absolutely love and can’t wait to use! This 50 piece set is only $4.64. Check it out here!!
These craft paper samples are perfect for journaling and scrapbooking. There are all sorts of colors, designs and textures – so much variety. I’m really happy with this set! Check this product out here!
I picked out my favorite pieces, and got them together for a picture. Some of them seem almost too pretty to use!
The last product I received is this sticker sample pack. There were so many stickers, of every style you could ask for, which was a lot of fun! There are some random stickers that I know I’ll probably never use, but it was still worth it for me, because there were also a lot of pretty ones. Here’s the link to this fun sticker set!
Here are my favorite stickers of the whole batch!
She also added a a little thank you note, with a coupon for my next purchase and some extra fun stuff, which I thought was really thoughtful and sweet!
I would rate this shop 5/5 stars, and highly recommend it for all stationary lovers like myself. I’m sure I’ll be ordering more from her as soon as I start running low again! So go ahead check out TheIlluminatingBox, and tell me your favorite item from the shop in the comments below!
I want to thank Susan for allowing me to review her shop! It was an absolute pleasure. 😀

What are your favorite kinds of posts to write?
Well, I love writing monthly recaps each month! I also enjoy bullet journaling posts. However, I’m currently feeling very un-inspired with my blog, and I’m having a bit of a hard time coming up with new posts. So if you have any ideas for me, let me know in the comments, and I’d greatly appreciate it!!
2. What’s a post you’d love to write, but haven’t yet?
You know, I’m not sure… I’d love to write more devotional type blog posts, based on lessons I’ve learned. I’d also enjoy doing some art and craft tutorials and DIYs! What do y’all think?
3. In what ways do you enjoy helping other people?
Hmm… I love helping my siblings with school, as well as serving my family in other ways.
4. What (or who) inspires you?
Oh, LOTS of things….. Music inspires me, as does nature, rain, flowers, rainbows, books, movies, art, colors, and other pretty things…. As well as my friends and family, and God. And lots more. And chocolate. Lol! 😂
5. What do you love to see on other people’s blogs?
I love seeing little bits of their life, pictures, art, DIYs, more art, tutorials, photography, and other fun things like that! 😀
(No pressure at all to do this, only if you want to!) 😉
Kaley: You’re a great blogger/writer! I had lots of fun writing that story with you the other day!
Hattush: Girl, you’ve been a super good friend to me the past few years! I really love your blog and seeing pictures of your adorable sugar gliders. My favorite posts you do are the ones with life updates, and pictures of your family!
Reese: I like your travel posts. It’s super fun to see the pictures from other countries!
And that’s it for today, folks! I’m going to go work on my bullet journal set up for August (CRAZY!), so look out for that post sometimes in the near future!!
Have a great day!!
Rosy 🌻 ❤️
What kind of things inspire you? Do you have any post ideas for me? 😀
Hello my dear blog readers! I hope this post finds you well, and in good spirits. And if not, it is my great hope that this post will bestow unto you joy and pleasure, and that you may leave happy and contented.
Ok, that was slightly weird, but hey, it’s true. (Even if it is worded in a slightly unique manner.) Lol!!😂
Anyway!! Am I the only one who is sitting here in shocked silence, because JUNE IS OVER?! I am currently speechless, but at least I can still type. We’re half way done with 2021! Crazy!! BUT EXCITING!!!
The month of June went very well (for the most part) for us. Save one aspect, which I will discuss at a later juncture. (I don’t know why I keep talking like this, LOL! Maybe it’s because I’ve been reading old books…? Ok, yeah probably. Deal with it.) 🤣
So here I am, at 5:25 in the afternoon, drinking ice tea and writing this blog post. 😀
~ Early in the month, we had some friends over for the day, which was fun! We played Apples to Apples, and… I won. XD (Not bragging, just stating the facts! LOL!!) We like to play that the cards you win are supposed to describe you… That can get pretty crazy, haha!!
What do y’all think? Do these words describe me??? 🤣
~I’ve been walking a lot lately. I try to get it 2 miles a day. (well sometimes…!) Listening to podcasts motivates me to actually do it. My favorite podcast to listen to is Revive our Hearts with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. 😀
~We went to Colorado, for my Grandma’s 70th birthday party! That was a good trip, and a lot of fun! 😀
On the way we listening to Ranger Bill, Focus on the Family Radio Theatre (This Hiding Place), Lamplighters, and I listened to an audio book. (“The Lamplighter” It was really good!!)
A couple of books I bought at a thrift store. Look how THICK!!! Can’t wait to read them!!
Some very random pictures…! lol!
In June I….
~Children of the Angels by Maggie Joy (5 stars!)
~Billy Budd by Herman Mellville (3 stars)
~The Mark on the Door by Franklin Dixon (3 stars)
~The Clue in the Wall by Carolyn Keene (3 stars)
~Julia’s Last Hope by Janette Oke (5 stars)
~Loves Enduring Promises by Janette Oke (3.5 stars)
~Scout and the Flying Phantom by Piet Prinns
~ The Lamplighter my Maria Cummins (5 stars!)
~The Peacemaker by Ken Sande (5 Stars)
~Education-Does God have an Opinion by Israel Wayne
~How do we know the Bible is True? By Ken Ham and others (5 stars!)
Hello people! Can you believe it’s already (practically!) July?! So crazy! But, I’m going to hold off rambling about it too much, because I have enough of that in the next post. (Stay tuned!) Lol!! 😂 😁 But yay for summer!!
My theme for this month, is…
🍉 Watermelon!! 🍉
This was super fun to do, and I was even eating watermelon while I was making it! 😀 🍉 Fun times!
First, we have the cover page, calendar, goals (which I haven’t written yet… XD) and my word of the month, which is diligence. 😀 😁
For my mood tracker, I did a bunch of little watermelons, and for the habit tracker I just did a SUPER simple one. I’ll probably go over it, and spice it up later… It’s kind of boring right now! XD
A Line a Day (where I write a bit about my day, each day) and a sleep tracker. This is my first time doing a sleep tracker, so we’ll see how that goes!! And again, these pages are slightly boring, but oh well… At least it’s functional! Lol. 😄
And as always, my absolute favorite spread…..!!!! The books I’m reading, my blog and youtube post tracker, and my Bible reading tracker!! Love it. Lol! 😂 😁
And lastly, my weekly spreads. It’s super pretty, but it doesn’t need to be, so. Haha! 😁
And that’s that! Thank you all so much for reading this post. ❤ I enjoyed doing this set up, and I’m super excited to use it. I love new months!!! 😀
Rosy 🌻 🍉 ❤️
How was your month? Do you have any plans for July? What’s your favorite part of summer?
P.S. Here’s a fun little thing for you guys! How many points did you get?!! I think I have 12. 😄 😁
It’s time for another quiz! I thought for quite a while on what topic I should do this quiz on… I finally decided that an Anne of Green Gables quiz would be a lot of fun! Anne of Green Gables, while not my absolute favorite book in the world, is still an awesome book, and I do love it. Besides, it’s a story about a fellow red head. One of my own kind. How can I not like it?? LOL! 😂 😁
All the questions in the quiz were taken from the book, and some of the answers may be found in the movie as well.
(For the record, the only movie I’ve seen, and the only one I WANT to see is the 1985 version with Megan Follows as Anne. The other versions…?? Ew nooo. No offense to anyone who likes the other versions… LOL!) But yeah, I love the movie just about as much as the book, which is rare, and a big compliment to the movie, haha! It was very well made, and very similar to the book. It’s just super good. 😉
Anyway, without farther ado, here is the quiz! I hope y’all enjoy, and have fun with it. I’m excited to see your answers!!
Hey everyone! I’m so sorry this is late… very late… I will try my best to do better next month! 😂
Anyway, May was a great month! *Tries to remember what even happened* At least I’m pretty sure it was. It’s been 12 whole days since May, and you can’t expect my brain to remember that far. 😉 Let me just find some pictures, and maybe that will refresh my memory… 😉
Ok, I’m going to start with the highlight of my month… Earlier in the month, our family met up with some amazing friends of ours, the Petzolds, in El Paso! They drove all the way from Arizona, which was amazing. We had a blast with them!
We went to a park, where we visited, played games, soccer, and sang together. So much fun!!
I laugh whenever I see this picture, because it looks like Annika has a mega long arm 🤣
Mr. Petzold got ice cream for everyone, which was DELICIOUS!! I got cookies ‘n cream…. YUMM!!
Eating breakfast outside the hotel, and saying our sad goodbyes….
And yeah, that was an amazing and SUPER fun time!!
~I cut (and layered) my own hair. I really like how it turned out! (And yeah, it’s slightly curly…!) 🤣
~Video called my friend, Carolina. 😀
~Started making friendship bracelets. So much fun!!
~More random pictures…! 😀
In May, I….
~Prisoners of the Pyrenees by C.R. Hedgcock (4.5 stars!)
~Questions God Asks by Israel Wayne (5 stars!)
~Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery (4 stars!)
~ The Shaping of a Christian Family by Elisabeth Elliot (4.5 stars!)
(I know it seems like a lot, but several of those books are pretty short, so.) 😉 😂
~Love Comes Softly
~Andy Griffith Show
~Probably other stuff I can’t remember. I’m not very good at keeping track of the movies I watch… But I will remember every book I read!!!
Philip: I hope this doesn’t break our friendship, but I think I like white chocolate best…
And there you have it!! May was a super fun month! 😄 June’s been good too, but I can’t talk about that yet, since this post is about May. LOL! Again, super sorry I’m so late….!!! And it’s so crazy to think that it’s already almost half way through the year…. WOW!! It’s going by so fast! XD 😀
~Rosy 💖 🌻
How was your month? 😀 What’s your favorite ice cream flavor??
Hey everyone!! IT’S JUNE!!! That’s just sooo crazy. 2021 is going by SO fast!!! Every time we reach a new month, it just blows me away…! LOL!
Anyway, my bullet journal theme for June was….
I’ve already actually done this theme in my old bullet journal, but that was before I’d really got into bullet journaling, and I was still figuring things out, so I really wanted to it again! Besides, it so pretty, that I may even want to do it yet again in the future. PLUS, I had some super cute succulent stickers that I wanted to use!! I really enjoyed setting up this month.
I think the cover page turned out lovely! (And no, I don’t have 0 goals for June… I just hadn’t written yet.) And my word for the month is humility, something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I pray that God will teach me humility this month especially (and always!) cause man, I need it! 🤣
I really love how the habit tracker, but I really don’t like the mood tracker… Oh well, I’ll survive, LOL! 😂
Possibly my favorite spread this month, as it has lots to do with reading!! And plus, I love how it turned out aesthetically. 😍
The first page is good, but the second page…..??? Um, let’s just say it’s in need of some help. It’s really messed up, and I haven’t thought of a good way to fix it yet. (the playlist page, which is just going to be a list of my favorite songs in June) Y’all have any thoughts or ideas for that?
Lastly, here is my weekly/daily spread. Super simple and functional as usual. 😀 Some people like to do super amazing, pretty weekly logs, which are so beautiful and awesome, but not nearly as functional and take so long to do. I used to do that, but now I realized it much easier and practical to do something a bit more simple, just because that’s what works best for me. Of course, you can do it however you feel works best for you!! 😀
And there you have it!! I love how (most) everything turned out, and I’m enjoying using it. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and I’ll see you again soon for mo June Recap, hopefully soon!
HAPPY JUNE, and have a great month!!!!!!
~Rosy 💖 🌻
How was your May? Do you have any plans for June? (I love comments!!!) 😛 😁
This week, we started a new school year! Everyone moved up a grade, and we all got new books and planners, which my mom made.
I’d been finished with 10th grade for a few weeks, so I was more than ready to get started with school again! I always love starting a new school year. New school books, planners, notebooks, supplies, and new motivation… love it!
This year, I decided to share with you all what my 11th grade is like! I hope you guys enjoy!!
This year I have 9 different subjects/books. I’m going to list them all here, and then go into each one in a bit more detail.
~Intro to Anatomy
~For You They Signed
~ Jensen’s Punctuation
~Great Christian Classics
~Beyond the Book Report
First, here is my planner! Mom made it, and I designed the cover. I really like how it turned out!! Inside is a weekly chart, where I can check off the books as I do them each day.
Intro to Anatomy
This book was published my MasterBooks. There are are 4 textbooks with different topics, and I will be going through them one my one, and doing the worksheets in the teacher’s guide. 🙂 Anatomy isn’t my favorite subject for sure, but it is quite interesting!
For You They Signed – The Spiritual Heritage of those who Shaped our Nation
This was written by Marilyn Boyer, and also sold by MasterBooks I believe. 😀 This goes through each of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, one by one in detail. 🙂
Again, by MasterBooks!!! (If you can’t tell, we rather like them…)😂 Last year I did Jensen’s Grammar, which I really did not like, but Jensen’s Punctuation has bene better so far. (So far!!) 😜 😁
Great Christian Classics
Put together by Kevin Swanson, and published by Generations. This is definitely the hardest out of everything! However, I am rather enjoying it. (And a different kind of way…🤣) Right now I’m reading through Augustine’s Confessions, which is difficult, but it’s a good challenge! The hardest part is actually probably answering the Questions about it though. But it’s good!! And after I finish Augustine’s Confessions, I will go through Patrick’s Confessions, The autobiography of John Patton, and more. 🙂
Beyond the Book Report
By Demme Learning, the same people who do Math-U-See I believe. (Which I have never done, and am fine with leaving it that way… haha!) XD This one is a bit slower paced, so I’m not completely sure how I feel about it yet. Basically, it’s about writing good book reports. So exciting. (I’d rather read the book without the report.) 😏 😉 LOL! XD
Another writing book, but this one is a lot of fun! It’s definitely written for a younger audience, but hey. 😂 Written by Jennifer Yoder, and sold by Christian Light Education. It has lots of fun writing prompts and assignments, so yeah. It’s fun. 😉
Speaking of Christian Light Education (CLE), I’m also doing their Bible course. CLE uses Light Units, which are just thin little booklets, and you have about 10 of them that you work though throughout the year. 🙂
Published by Critical Thinking. This one’s been pretty fun so far! 🙂 There are puzzles, and brain bending stuff, etc. XD 😁
And last and definitely least, we have math! LOL. I’m not a huge fan of math, but it’s not really bad, when I understand it! (23% of the time maybe) XD
Currently I’m doing math online, and I’m using CTC Math. (And I have no clue what that stands for. Chastising The Children maybe. Or Chipmunks Talk Carelessly. I doubt that one, but you never know! )
If this screenshot doesn’t scare you, then nothing will! (Or is it just me?) 🤣
And here’s everything! All my books fit perfectly in this tote, which I keep them in. 😃 (That’s NOT an iPad in there by the way! Just an iPad box, which I conveniently keep my pen and pencils in. )😁
And there are all my subjects for 11th grade! Now I want to show some of the school supplies I got! Usually I don’t buy special things specifically for starting school, but this time I decided I wanted to. I only have 2 grades left after all! (Wow, that still shocks me!) XD
I got the two super pretty notebooks at Walmart! The plain blue one is for History and Anatomy, and the second one is mainly for math. 😄
I got these rainbow pencils, also at Walmart. I know they are certainly not the best quality (like 2 dollars folks), but they’re sooo pretty, and that’s what matter to me in this case. 😁 😋 🌈
(Oh and I can’t forget this random pretty pencil my friend Kyra gave me! Lol!)
These little magnetic bookmarks (I got at WALMART) have been the perfect fun (and useful!) edition to my 11th grade! And the sticky notes were given to my by my friend, Emily, and I love them!
And last, most most certainly NOT least, in fact it’s my favorite things ever… This awesome set of colorful pens!!!! (I definitely did NOT get them at Walmart. Ok I did. I love that place. It’s a good thing I don’t get to go there very often… LOL!)
Anyway, I’ve had and LOVED these pens (in black) for quite a while, and they’ve been my absolute favorite pens I’ve ever used like EVER. So it’s so much fun to get them in colors! They’re a bit expensive though. Well, for me. $12.00. Maybe that’s not that expensive for most people…. 😂 🤑
But it was totally worth it. I’m not using these only for school (that would be hard), but it’s certainly fun and motivating to be able to write my notes in all the pretty colors. 😍 😁
So yeah! That was SO MUCH fun, getting ready for, and starting 11th grade. The first day of school went well, with me going through it a bit slowly though, getting things figured out, as is expected. 🙂
And my sister’s new kitten, Denver, was definitely not being a major distraction. (But honestly, he is WAY TO CUTE!)
And there you guys go! If you didn’t like the rest of my post, I’m sure those cat pictures made up for it at least. XD But I hope you enjoyed anyway! I’ve been doing 11th grade for a few days now, and it’s been a lot of fun. (And work, haha!)
I hope everyone’s having a great day!!
~Rosy 💖 🌻
What grade are you in? What subjects are your favorites/least favorites?
