Rosy Marr and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day//The Ways that God is Keeping me Humble, and in Which I Almost Decide to Move to Scotland

Standard

July 7th, 2021. The day started out less than stellar. I hadnโ€™t fallen asleep until around 1 the night before, and consequently, missed my 6:00 clock, which I had set to make breakfast in the morning. I jumped out of bed at almost 7, rushing to get breakfast made. Breakfast was a bit late. Instead of my usual peaceful, Reading-My-Bible-And-Drinking-Yummy-Hot-Tea-In-Perfect-Silence-Before-The-Family-Was-Up, it had turned into a Why-Didnโ€™t-I-Hear-My-Alarm and a slightly stressful Dash-Around-And-Get-Breakfast-On-The-Table-Quick-as-I-Can kind of day.

However, I resolved to not let this morning get the better of me,and ruin my day. So I forgot about it, and moved on with my day, hoping it would get better. And it showed no signs of getting worse, until I went to the store for eggs early that afternoon. It was all well and great. Until. Until I finished checking out, and picked up the two large flats of eggs to carry to the car. However, the eggs seemed to have other ideas, and decided to stay behind if at all possible. In other words, about half of the eggs took a one way trip to the floor.

Oh wow, that was the most embarrassing moment Iโ€™d had in quite a while! Especially considering I was now holding up a line of about 7 people. I was extremely flustered, and didnโ€™t know what to say. Thankfully, the boy running the cash register (a boy around 14, and our neighbor) was nice about it, and told me it was fine. I tried to say something, but every Spanish word I ever knew fled my mind, and I think something weird came out of my mouth. My sister Lizzie, who was with me, was very helpful indeed. โ€œYouโ€™re as red as a beet, Rosy!โ€ and โ€œYouโ€™re making it worse, Rosy!โ€ she said, while laughing under her breath. However, I was glad she was with me for support, and to share in my embarrassment.

One of the ladies in line said something to me that sounded like it was meant to be reassuring, however I couldnโ€™t tell since it was in German. That of course, only made the situation seem worse, but I smiled through my red face. The boy running the cash register refilled the flat of eggs and gave it to us for free, which was kind. He told us everything was fine, and that we could go ahead a go – they would clean up the gigantic mess. I thanked him, and we left, but after I left I realized I had forgotten to even apologize. I decided to move to Scotland.

I carried the eggs extra carefully to the car, only managing to drop the keys once. When I got home, I dropped the groceries right outside our door, and the food spilled everywhere. I started crying, then laughing, then crying again. My dad came, and helped me clean everything up. The family laughed at my story, which of course I didnโ€™t mind. (Iโ€™d rather they laugh than just about any other reaction they could give!)

โ€œDo you know whoโ€™s going to know about this before too long?โ€ Dad laughed. โ€œThe whole neighborhood!โ€ It was true, as outsiders, Christians, and Americans, everything notable that we did was frequently talked about and shared throughout the community! Oh well, I would probably survive being known as the girl who dropped the eggs.

As I write this, it doesnโ€™t sound half as traumatizing as it felt like at the time, but it was certainly very mortifying at the time! I spent the afternoon agonizing over what I had done, and passionately vowing never to buy, eat, or even look at eggs ever again, for the rest of my life and forevermore. Of course, that ended when I made scrambled eggs for supper that evening.ย ๐Ÿ˜

I was only beginning to recover from my trauma when the next catastrophe entered my life.

It was that evening, right after church. Our neighbor (the same boy who ran the cash register earlier that morning when I dropped the eggs!) was taking care of a horse, and that evening he offered to let us ride for a bit. Of course, everyone was ecstatic, so we did. We each took turns riding around the yard a couple of times, and I went with my younger siblings. My dad and a few other men stood by watching and visiting. It was all going well, until the very last ride, which was my 9 year old sister Ruthie and I.

As the horse turned around, it suddenly decided to run, taking me very much by surprise. I reached back to make sure Ruthie, who was sitting behind me,didnโ€™t fall off, meanwhile trying to calm the horse with the other hand. (For the record, I am far from a good horse rider, and have very little experience.) However all of my efforts were in vain, and in a fraction of a second, my sister and I were flying through the air. Iโ€™m pretty sure I broke my tailbone. It happened so quickly that Iโ€™m not even sure what happened and how. All I know is that we were on the horse, and then we were. I didnโ€™t feel any pain when I hit the ground, and only thought about trying to roll Ruth and I away from the horses hoofs, so as not to get trampled. Although Iโ€™ve never had the experience, from what Iโ€™ve heard, being trampled is not a particularly pleasant experience. Thankfully the horse stopped right away when it lost itโ€™s riderโ€™s, and it wasn’t hard to calm him down.

The next thing I knew, my dad and several other people were running towards us, and I picked myself off the ground, and checked to see if my sister was hurt. Thankfully, it had just been raining, and the ground was soft, so neither of us were hurt badly.

That ended the horse riding for the night, and we went back inside. Only then, when the adrenaline wore off,  did I start to feel quite sore. But that was ok, since it was nothing compared to what I would feel the next day!

I laughed thinking about how I must have looked, soaring through the air before hitting the ground. However, it was slightly mortifying as well. (Now I was definitely moving to Scotland!) My only comfort was that Dad said he didnโ€™t think that anyone saw, except for the neighbor lady. I was glad that at least a tiny bit of the very small amount of dignity I had left was saved, not having everyone see my flying head over heels!ย ๐Ÿคฃ

I guess that it was just my day for dropping things! (In front of large groups of people.) LOL!

I went to bed that night exhausted from my escapades, and glad that the day was over. So whatโ€™s the moral of the story? Well, not much, except that bad days will happen, and the important thing is how we respond to them.

After falling from the horse, I was tempted to worry about all the things that could have happened, such as being trampled or dragged by the horse, or hitting my head when I fell. However, I found it was much nicer to simply be aware of what could have happened, thank God that they didnโ€™t happen and that He protected us, laugh, and move on.

After I dropped the eggs in the store and made a huge mess and held up a long line of people, I was tempted to sink into the depths of despair and move to Scotland forever. I mean, how embarrassing! But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I could learn from the situation, laugh, and move on with life, a very humbled person. Believe me, I will be carrying eggs much more carefully from now on!!!ย ๐Ÿ˜†

When I was chatting with my friend, Kyra, about my disastrous day, she reminded me of Philippians 3:13, which inspired me to not let these uncomfortable circumstances get me down, and to keep pressing on. โ€œForgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are ahead.โ€

Another one of my favorite quotes that is great for bad days, is actually from Anne of Green Gables, and it says, โ€œTomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it… yetโ€ I just love this!

And another – โ€Laugh at your mistakes but learn from them.โ€ This one definitely applied to me!

And thatโ€™s my story of calamity and mishap. I hope that it was somewhat entertaining, and that you learned something from my day! Iโ€™m feeling much better now, save my extremely sore body. I now know what it feels like to be able to get down, but not sure if I will be able to get back up again!ย ๐Ÿคฃ

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and that you are not having a day like I was on July 7th, 2021! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Love,

Rosyย ๐ŸŒธ

P.S. Iโ€™ve decided not to move to Scotlandโ€ฆ. yet! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Our Trip to AZ!

Hi everyone! Yes, I am still alive over here… XD Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately. I guess I just realized that (believe it or not…) there are more important things in life than blogging. (Surprise!) Ok, well I guess I already knew that, but… Lol.ย Anyway, I still very much love blogging, so…! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Last week we traveled to Arizona to visit our friends and home church there. It was probably one of my favorite trips to AZ since we moved to Mexico! It was great to see all of our friends there again. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was so thankful for the Christian fellowship with other believers. โค

Little Brother Photoshoot

Standard

Hey guys! So, I know I haven’t done very many photography posts lately, but that’s because I honestly haven’t been taking very many pictures for a while. It’s because I’ve had… well, what you might call the photographers’ version of Writer’s Block. So Photographer’s Block I guess. XD um, is that a real thing? xD It should be.

Anyway, thankfully I’m getting over that now. So a few days ago I did a photoshoot of my adorable little brother James, and I love how it turned out! He is THE cutest, bestest, sweetest little bro anyone could ask for. โค โค

So, during the photoshoot, I asked James to reach up into the apple tree, and pretend he was picking an apple. I did that, and Philip said, “Take a picture of me doing that!” So he reached up into the tree to pretend to pick an apple, but the apple accidentally came down in his hand. We weren’t technically supposed to pick any apple yet since they weren’t ripe, and this was his face. XD XD

HAHA, isn’t that epic? XD

James and I had such fun with this photoshoot. He’s the best. โค So are all my siblings. ๐Ÿ˜‰ โค

Also, Gracie and I finally took the video for our Q&A. Sorry we took so long. More on that in the video. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I can’t wait to get that finished and edited so I can post it soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sibling Quotes

Ok, we all know that kids can say the funniest things sometimes… I am convinced that my siblings are the best at making me laugh. XD ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

I’ve compiled a few of my favorite funny quotes from my siblings. Enjoy!!

Philip (5): “Rosy, you are big. You are too big to live in a sprinkle.”

Oookay…. Whoa, that was random! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Andy (10), while eating ice cream: “Oh, I just got freezer burn!”ย

He meant brain freeze! LOL! XDย

Me: “James, are you as cowboy?”

James (2): “Yeah! Mooooooo!!!”

Not sure he knows exactly what what a cowboy is yet… ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค”ย

Philip (5): “Rosy, I wish you weren’t my sister.”

Me:ย  ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ”Oh! Why?”

Philip: “Because I really want to marry you, and I can’t marry my sister!”

This one was my favorite!!!!!!!๐Ÿ˜‚ย Talk about a relived big sister… (Wait, was that my first marriage proposal???) ๐Ÿคฃ

Philip, after I opened a jar lid for him: “You are the strongest lady I ever met!”

Wow! Is that a compliment? I think it is… ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜†

Friend: “Who of your siblings do you think speaks the best at speaking Spanish?”

Gracie: “I don’t want to brag, so go ask my dad!”

Haha! Even that was a couple years ago, it took a little bit of convincing to let me add that one… But she let me! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚

Susy (4), trying to sing Jesus Loves Me: “Jesus loves me, this he knows, and I know the Bible knows!”

Lol, maybe we should work on that with her a bit… ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ™ƒ๐ŸŽถ

Ok, I know I had more quotes, but I forgot some of them… Consequences of storing them in my brain, instead of one paper. I’ll probably remember as soon as I click post post on this. So, I might post another one of these sometime. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Birthday, Baptism, and Border Trip. (And More!)

Standard

Hi everyone! I have a big long post for you today, so beware. ๐Ÿ˜‰ XD

Hey, I just realized I could call this post The Three B’s for short… XD ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜œ

Anyway…! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

We had a really busy and exciting two weeks during my media fast. One of the first things that happened was the birthday party of my friend, Karen. She turned 15. In Mexico, when a girl turns 15 she’s basically considered an adult and eligible for marriage. (Wow, that’s crazy isn’t it??? I can’t even imagine… XD) Anyway, she asked me to take pictures at the party for her. Which I did, and enjoyed doing! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Here are a few of them… ๐Ÿ™‚

20190427_210456

And, in other, really exciting news, we had our first baptism at the church we’re planting here in Mexico!! ๐Ÿ˜€ It was a man named Alejandro (Alexander), and it’s been so awesome to see God working in his, and his wife’s, life. Praise the Lord!!! He is so good.

Here’s a slideshow I put together with the pictures I took during church last Sunday, the Baptism, and the meal afterwards. (Not to mention the water fight that was bound to happen when you have kids and young adults standing around with nothing much else to do… XD ) It was a great time. ๐Ÿ˜€

The day before yesterday my Dad, Philip, Bekah and I took a trip up to the El Paso, Texas to get our mail, and get some supplies. This time we planned on making it there and back in one day! ๐Ÿ˜€ Usually we have to stay a night in a hotel.

We got up at 3:00 and left at 3:30 am. We drove for a few hours until we got to a small town to get breakfast. We got food for all four of us, for the equivalent of $3.50 US dollars. We had to laugh about how much food for us all would have costed in the States, and how different Mexico and the States are from eachother! XD

We reached the border by around… 9:00 am I think. We crossed uneventfully, and drove to El Paso which was nearby the border crossing. We couldn’t go to Costco yet, since it opens at ten, so we went to Goodwill, where we bought… Nothing! Then we went to Savers, where we bought… Nothing! XD ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ;P After that, we went to Walmart, and a few other places. We ate lunch at Costco. Well, actually we got lunch at Costco, brought it to the car and ate it there! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then we did a few other things, including picking up our mail, then heading across the border again. We were home by 9:30 that night! We were so tired… XD

Ohhhhh!!!!! There’s one thing Iย haveย to tell you guys!!! First you have to guess…

What, you don’t like to guess?

Ok, fine. ๐Ÿ˜‰ XD

We’re going… SOUTH!!! YES! To Alabama and Georgia… I am so excited!!! It’s mainly for a family reunion, since my Mom has lots of family there. We’re also going to get to see some friends for the first time. (I’m especially excited to finally get to meet my friend, Amie, from Crazy A!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ) Anyway, it’s still almost a month until we leave. I think we leave on the 3rd or 4th of June… Something like that. ๐Ÿ™‚ We are all waaay excited!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Before I leave, here is a really good quote I found recently. It really made me think.
