I’m Back!!!// Why I Did a Media Fast, and How it Blessed Me

Standard

*Note: I was going to post this on Monday… But it didn’t work out, and yesterday my dad, some siblings and I went to the border. So, I’m doing it today! 🙂 *

Hey everyone!! I’m sooo happy to be back! I missed blogging, and emailing and chatting so much… But it was a good two weeks, and I’m glad I did it!

Here are 3 reasons why I did a media fast.

  1. So that I could spend more time with God, His Word, and my family.
  2. For my head. My head can start really hurting if I’m on the computer for a while.
  3. Just to give myself a break, lol! It can be stressful sometimes, always trying to write blog posts, and get them done in time… Not that I don’t like blogging- I love it! 😀

And here are some reasons it blessed me. (Other than the reasons I gave above!)

  1. I had more time to do other things such as reading, schoolwork, projects, chores, spending time with siblings, and more. 😉 I also was able to exercise (by going on a run) almost every day during those two weeks. For me, that’s impressive, lol!
  2. I was able to focus on the more important things in life such as relationships with God and my family.
  3. I got to read more books!!!!! (That’s always a blessing! Try not to take it for grated…! lol.)
  4. I learned God is always with me, even when I’m lonely. He’s a faithful friend!! 😀

During the media fast, I sang a lot, made movies with my siblings, wrote lots of letters, played a lot of piano, accordion and guitar. 🙂

Oh! And I mentioned before that my friend decided to do it with me at last minute! I asked her to share some reasons she did the media fast, and how it blessed her, to which she happily obliged. 🙂

And, without further ado, I present to you…. Kyra Rose!

3 reasons why I (Kyra) did the media fast…

  1. To glorify God.
  2. To take a break.
  3. To grow in my relationship with God

3 things I learned/ ways it blessed me…

  1. I learned that it is always very important to put God first, and to make sure nothing is even close to getting in the way of my relationship with God.
  2. 1 Peter 5:7; casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
During the last couple weeks God has used this verse to really bless and amaze me! I have learned how much God really cares for me! It was my sin that put Him on the cross, and yet He loves me and calls me His daughter!
  3. When I am weak, God is strong! He is faithful to help us through all things! To God alone be the glory!
During the fast, I listened to music, played a lot guitar/piano, and a little bit of banjo, cleaned, and read books.😀

I think Kyra’s reason’s were really good, don’t you? 😀

Well, that’s it for now! Be on the lookout for a life update post with lots of pictures!! 😀

In Christ,

Rosy Joy

Have you ever done a media fast? Would you ever want to do one? Did you miss me??? XD

The Joy of the Resurrection- Guest Post by Clay

The Joy of the Resurrection- Guest Post by Clay

When I wake up on Easter Sunday, we have a special breakfast. Then we go on a scavenger hunt for our Bibles, or devotionals, or any faith strengthening literature. We go to church, and have a meal. In the hustle and the bustle it is very easy to forget the reason for the day. I always try to take the time to read the story of Jesus death and resurrection on Easter to help remind me of the Joy of the Resurrection.

I am writing this at the very beginning of April. I won’t have to get it done for about 2 more weeks. I even have written several other posts. You might ask, why am I doing this? Because this year I have the Joy of the Resurrection early. In the last week of March, I just got to the end of Mark in my daily Bible time. As I read the story Holy Week, it came upon me. Christ gave his life, that I might enter heaven! It was really strange. Ever since then, I have this excitement. The last time I felt it was when I first got saved. I am just so in awe of his sacrifice. I believe that this should be our whole lives.

When we don’t lose sight of his sacrifice, we are willing to make sacrifices ourselves for the betterment of the world. We feel like little things like helping set up for a church event or cooking for a fellowship meal are the least that we could do. And though God doesn’t require these things, they are what he wants us to do. The Joy also drives us to tell others. What we are excited about we talk about. I am into photography. When I am hanging out with my friends, I usually talk about my pictures. One is into playing musical instruments. I like music, and know quite a bit about it. Listening to it is great, and I do it nearly all day. I took about 4 years of piano. I can play pretty well. But it isn’t my very favorite thing. You will often see me steer the conversation around to photography, but then my friend will steer It back to music. We both like to talk about what we are excited about. I don’t mind music, and he doesn’t mind photos. But back to my point, I find a way to bring photography into pretty much every conversation. With people who I just met , with friends, with family. It is a big part of my life. I have found that when I am overjoyed with the Sacrifice, it makes its way into every conversation, and I get chances to share the gospel with a lot of people.

Now you might be thinking, “Isn’t this about the resurrection? Why are you bringing in the sacrifice?” Well, without one you don’t have the other. But let me get back on point. Why would we have hope that we will live forever if God himself was unable to defeat death? But he did, he rose from the dead on Resurrection Sunday. We celebrate that death no longer has a grip on Him, but it also doesn’t have a grip on us. We will live eternally! We are saved from eternal Hell.

That is the Joy of the Resurrection.
