July, 2022 Recap

`

Hey guys! July was a really fun month for me. I got to travel and see lots of friends, which is always a blast!!

Video calling my friend Kyra

I don’t remember much of what happened before July 14th, which is the day my mom and I left on our trip to Arizona. That was definitely the highlight of my month!!! (And year…)

My dad drove us to the airport in El Paso, Tx. Some of my siblings came along too.

The plane trip there was SO much fun! It’d been a long time since I’d flown, and I had a blast looking out the window. The view was so incredible and breath-taking!!

So pretty!!!!

I got a starbucks drink for the first time ever at the airport! I got a caramel ribbon crunch frappuccino – or something like that. It was so good!!! πŸ˜‹

We went to the Arizona Homeschool convention the next day, which was really good. I had a great time listening to some of the speakers, doing a fun photography class, and hanging out with my friends. πŸ˜€

Visiting with my friend, Dani, and holding her adorable baby sister

So that went really well. I also bought three books, which I can’t wait to read! πŸ˜‚

The next day was Sunday, and we had a really good time at church. I don’t have any pictures, but if you stay until the end of this post I will be sharing a video. πŸ™‚

On Monday I spent the day with some amazing friends of mine! We went out thrifting and had a blast.

I found a pink princess-y dress with *very* large puffed sleevesNeedless to say, I felt very much like Anne of Green Gables, lol. XD I didn’t get it, but I thought it was really fun. XD

AndI love this picture of Susie and I! ❀ I didn’t get that dress either. πŸ˜‚

For lunch we all went to Chipotle. It was my first time eating there, and it was delicious!!! The burrito I got was HUGE, and lasted me both lunch and supper…. lol!!

I spent the night with the Hublers, and we watched Emma (2009)- all 4 hours. After that I talked with Susie for a while, and finally went to bed at 3 am. Only to get up at 5:30. So yeah, I didn’t get much sleep, but that was fine. It was the time for sleeping, I could always catch of later. 🀣

Playing chess with Gaby

The next day I hung out for the morning with Gaby, which was so much fun!

That afternoon, we flew back to El Paso, and Dad picked us to take us home again. The trip was so much fun, and I was sad it was over. It was good to be home again though! πŸ™‚

I vlogged the whole trip! I really love how the video turned out. It’s full of a lot of amazing memories!! πŸ’• Go check it out!!

May, 2022 Review

Hey friends! ❀️

I realize that, yet again, I have skipped a reviewing a month… I didn’t post a recap of April, because I had very few photos, and wasn’t really feeling motivated to do it. So yeah. Sorry about that. XD

Whatever the case, I’m back with a recap of the month of May! πŸ˜€

Near the beginning of this month, the Oduber family, who was moving across Mexico to a town a few hours from us, stayed at our house for a few days. It was really fun to get to know their family!

A couple of weeks later, one of the churches my dad frequently preaches at held a conference. The Oduber family was able to come again, and stayed at our house during the duration of the conference. It was fun, and the conference was really good! Quite a few people came. πŸ˜€

The men visiting

Lizzie and I went on a short walk/hike with some of the women. We climbed to the top of a hill, and the view from up there was amazing!!! Sadly, I didn’t have a camera, so I don’t have pictures of the view. But it was really fun!

Lizzie, me and Grace
James and Me
A painting I did
Another painting
The kids doing a science experiment with their friend, one of our neighbors.
Philip, Susy and James

My sister Lizzie, turned 15 near the end of May. πŸ˜€ The first two pictures of of her birthday, and the last one is from a photoshoot I did of her bit later.

Memes I saved in May

I’m thinking about making this a regular section in these recap posts because who doesn’t love good memes? πŸ˜‚ Here are a few of my favorites that I saved last month. πŸ™‚

Books I read in May

  1. Having a Mary Spirit by Joanna Weaver (5 stars)
  2. Kilmeny of the Orchard by L.M. Montgomery (5 stars)
  3. Kate’s Capitol by Sarah Holman (4 stars)
  4. Phantom Write by Jerry Jenkins (4 stars)

  7. Volition by Chautona Havig (5 stars)
  8. The Last Gasp by Chautona Havig (4.5 stars)
  9. Imprisoned with ISIS by Petr Jasek (4.5 stars)

January 2022 Review

Hey everyone!! πŸ˜€

In 2021 I did monthly recaps. I’m tired of that, so now I’m going to do monthly reviews. Will that make any difference? Nope. But will it make me happy? Yes. So we’re doing it. 🀣

Sorry, that was random. Anywho.

We’ve gone through the entire first month of 2022!! It’s now time for my to perform my monthly ritual of saying, “BOY, this year is going by crazy fast! Already.” πŸ˜‚

I snapped this photo of me and my siblings while we were getting ready for a video call. 8/9 of us here!

Speaking of, I had a super fun video call with my friend, Kyra. πŸ˜€

We attempted to make a heart… But hearts are very difficult to make together with your hands when you’re 500 miles apart. It ended up looking like a broken heart, but oh well. We’ll try again next time! πŸ˜‚

My sister Grace and I visited a friend of ours nearby. We hadn’t seen her in a good while, so that was great! She has an adorable baby girl. 😍

Me and my sister, Lizzie

I’ve been working on going on walks more often. It’s a good form of exercise!

A few weeks ago, we rented a new building for church. We had been meeting on a building on our property, but now we want to be in the city, closer to more people.

Doing a class with my siblings!
Recording a song

My dad went on a trip to another state in Mexico by the ocean. He got this really need picture of some crocodiles!

I made this this Jane Austen book themed collage in my art journal using dust jackets from some of her books. I think it turned out so cool!

A painting that I was working on a few weeks ago, and um, am still kind of working on. πŸ˜‚ I really need to finish it! I want to put a Bible verse on it, but I still haven’t decided which one to use. πŸ™‚

I recorded these songs with my friend Kyra – I sang, and she played the guitar. She even wrote the second song… It’s amazing!! Make sure to subscribe to her channel if you’d like to see more song videos like these! πŸ˜€

Books

I read quite a bit this month, haha. πŸ˜‚ The Emily Abbott books are shorter though, so it wasn’t a totally insane amount.

  1. The Lost Dutchman’s Secret by Rebekah Jones (5 stars)
  2. Keep Faith in an Age of Reason by Jason Lisle (4.5 stars)
  3. Snow-crossed Letter by Chautana Havig (4 stars)
  4. Titanic – Poetry, Music and Stories by Ken Rosignal (5 stars)
  5. Evidence not Seen by Darlene Diebler Rose (5 stars!)
  6. Beauty Shop Tales by Beth Patillo (4 stars)
  7. Roses for Mamma by Jannette Oke (5 stars)
  8. A Father’s Secret by Donna Lynn Hess (5 stars)
  9. Waltz into the Waves by Sarah Holman (5 stars)
  10. Red Rover, Red rover by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  11. Plan to Fail by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  12. Bad Things, Small Packages by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  13. Tutor, Nanny, Spit-up, Sky by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  14. A-Spying we will Go by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  15. Once Upon a Dime by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  16. Five Star Spy by Perry Elisabeth Kirkpatrick (5 Stars)
  17. The Autobiography of John Paton by John Paton (5 stars)

November 2021, Recap// Celebrating November’s National Holidays

Hey everyone!!

I’m feeling quite un-inspired about how to introduce and start this post, lol. So I think I’m just going to call this very poor excuse for a paragraph an intro, and just get into it. πŸ˜‰.😁

I seriously cannot think of much that happened in November…. So I’ll just think of things as I go, and hopefully come up with some stuff. I’ll also tell you guys about how I celebrated some of November’s National Holidays, so hopefully it won’t be too short a post. πŸ™‚

My sister Grace, and brother Philip each had a birthday this month. Grace turned 17, and Philip turned 8! πŸ™‚

My sister, Grace, and I get to be “twins” for a bit each year. Since we were born 11 and a half months apart, we’re the same age for about 12 days!! We took these pictures while we were both 17. πŸ™‚

Grace, Lizzie and I decided to match plaid turtlenecks for church that day, which was really fun!

Then my 18th birthday happened the next day, which of course, you probably already know about from past posts, so I won’t talk about it here. But I’ll re-post a couple pictures. πŸ˜€

A few of my siblings and I. πŸ™‚

This was our family’s Thanksgiving dinner! πŸ˜€

Bekah and Ruthie did a great job making the rolls!

My youngest siblings and I, while I teach them school. πŸ˜€ πŸ₯°

And my friend Kyra insists that I share this bit of writing with you all… πŸ˜› πŸ˜‚ Basically, while learning about writing good news articles in school, one of my assignments was to write two different news articles about a nursery rhyme, but from two different biased points of view. I chose the old rhyme that says, “Ding dong, pussy’s in the well. Who put her in? Little Johnny Flynn.”πŸ˜‚ Here are my articles. They kind of silly, but they were a lot of fun to write!! XD

And this one is from the opposite bias as the last one. πŸ™‚

In November, I…

Celebrating November’s National Holidays!!

Before November started, I wrote down all it’s National holidays, so that I could celebrate as many as I could. I was able to get nearly all of them, but I really enjoyed the ones I did get to!!

November 1st – National Cinnamon Day

I made cinnamon toast. Mmm!!

November 2nd – National Deviled Egg Day

November 3rd – National Sandwich Day

We made Patty Melts for supper, which are kind of a mix of a burger and a sandwich… But we’re just calling it a sandwich. πŸ˜‰

November 8th – National Cappuccino Day

November 14th – Spicy Guacamole Day

I didn’t get a picture, but I did make some!! Yum!!

November 15th – National Clean out Your Refrigerator Day

I should have gotten before and after pictures… You probably don’t want to see the before picture though. It was pretty messy…!! lol!

November 20th – National Peanut Butter Fudge Day

Didn’t get a picture of this either… 😦 But it was so good!!

These were sooo much fun, and I hope to do it again soon!!

I hope everyone had a great November, and that you all have an awesome Christmas season. This is one of my absolute favorite times of the year, and I’m really excited about it! πŸ˜„ πŸŽ„ ❄️

October 2021, Recap

Hey everyone! πŸ˜ƒ

How was everyone’s month? October went by so fast for me! That may be because I spent more than half of it pretty sick with Covid. More on that later. Thankfully, I’m getting really close to being being better!

October started with us still in Arizona, visiting our friends there. It was a really good time!! October 2nd was my good friends, Maggie and Jon’s wedding. ❀️

It was a really beautiful wedding!! ❀️

Love these people!!
Me with my amazing friends, Gabby and Kyra

It was a great trip!! It was amazing too see our friends there after quite a while.

We drove home soon after, and everyone was super tired from the trip. We all got sick almost as soon as we arrived. πŸ˜‚ I didn’t do a whole lot during that time except sleep, read and do a bit of school when I could. That sickness lasted for about a week I think, and we were all glad when it was over. πŸ™‚

I decorated my bulletin board and dresser for fall. I pressed some leaves, printed some pictures, and my friend Kyra made the “thankful” sign. I love how everything ended up looking!! 🍁

Mmm, pumpkin pie!! πŸ₯§

Playing Catan with some of my siblings. πŸ˜€

Some friends of ours that we don’t get to see very often visited us for Church. It was a really good time!!

Vannesa, me, Yeseña and Grace. ❀️ It was really good to visit with them!!

Soon after that, we got sick… again. This time even worse – we’re pretty sure it was Covid. Almost all of us lost our taste and smell, which was not fun! It lasted a couple of weeks, but thankfully, we’re all mostly better now.

Since we were sick for so much of October, I don’t really have many more pictures or interesting things that happened. It was sad to be sick so much then, because I love October – but hopefully November will be better!!

In October, I

August 2021 Recap

Hey everybody!!

Can you believe it’s already September?! I’m especially excited for this month, because 1) AUTUMN! and 2) We’re planning on taking a trip to go to Family Camp with our Church there. We haven’t seen them in a year now (which is waayyy too long), and we’re really, really, extremely excited!!! That’s near the end of the month, and I’m very sure you’ll hear lots about it in future posts. πŸ˜€ So exciting!

This post, however, is about August, not September, so let’s get into it!! πŸ˜€

Early in the month, our family traveled to a town a few hours away to visit some good friends of ours and to start of some evangelical meetings there. We stayed for a couple of days, and had a really good time!

A bunch of us got up early(ish) in the morning to go hiking with our friends in the mountains Ok, large hills by the town. We hiked for a couple of miles, but it felt like longer, as some parts weren’t super easy going. It was loads of fun though! The little kids did a great job keeping up. πŸ˜„

The view was really pretty from the top!!

Later that afternoon we played soccer until we were tired out, and then they taught us a Mexican game that I forget the name of…. It was kinda similar to baseball, but also quite different. I don’t even know how to play baseball. But they told me it was similar, so. Lol!

After that we rested, and watched the kids get wet and muddy, and catch toads. It was really hot and dry, so the water felt good. πŸ˜‚

That evening we held a meeting inside our friend’s pizza place, which went well. πŸ™‚ We left at around… 8:00 maybe? And got home around 11 or 12. πŸ˜„ It was a really good time!!

I can’t think of any other major events or anything that happened after that, so here are a few random photos for you guys. πŸ˜€

James and Me!
Mom and the youngest kids doing school
Andy and a garter snake he caught

Some pictures of our family on a walk. I got carried away taking pictures with my brother’s camera. The selfie stick was fun, lol! I won’t post all the pictures (there were a lot XD), but here are a couple of the best ones.

Hey everyone!! Can you believe it’s already August? I know I say this every month, but… IT’S CRAZY! This year is going by sooo fast!!

But we’re here to talk about July, not August, so. What happened this month anyway? I forget half of it.. XD But hopefully I shall remember as I go. πŸ™‚

Well, it’s been raining nicely this year! The last couple of years, we have been in a pretty bad drought, and hardly got any rain. But this year, it’s actually been raining, so praise God for that! It’s getting really green, and I love it so much.

A pretty sunset!

I’ve been doing classes with my youngest siblings, which has been fun! πŸ˜€

Reading Glaucia the Greek Slave, given to me by my friend, Susie!! It was really good! πŸ˜€

Our family goes on walks together frequently in the summer. It’ really fun, and the weather as been beautiful!!!

8 out of 11 of us XD Some of the kids ran up ahead, and I was behind taking the picture. πŸ˜€

Later this month (just a few days ago) Ruthie, Susie and I went with Dad to the border! We go every every so often to get our mail, go shopping, and whatever other errands we need to do. πŸ˜€ I always love going.

We left at 3:30 in the morning, and got there around 9:30. The sunrise that morning was really pretty!

It rained a lot on the trip, was was so much fun! The weather was beautiful……!!!

It looks like Dad is sleeping while he’s driving, but DON’T WORRY! He’s just blinking. πŸ˜‰ LOL!!

We went to Coldstone Creamery while we were in El Paso! It was my first time going, and it was AMAZING….. I got coffee ice cream with chocolate and caramel and nuts….. Ahhhh!! We got to watch the lady making it, witch looked super fun, and I decided what my future job will be. LOL!

Sadly, I didn’t get a picture of the ice cream. Sorry, I was just too busy eating it. XD

James and I took picture of each other with these purple flowers. He was quite proud of the pictures he took himself! πŸ˜€ ❀

Ok, I’m going to start with the highlight of my month… Earlier in the month, our family met up with some amazing friends of ours, the Petzolds, in El Paso! They drove all the way from Arizona, which was amazing. We had a blast with them!

Random Cute and Funny Quote from my lil’ Bro πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ž

Philip: What’s your favorite kind of chocolate?

Me: Probably dark chocolate.

Philip: I hope this doesn’t break our friendship, but I think I like white chocolate best…

And there you have it!! May was a super fun month! πŸ˜„ June’s been good too, but I can’t talk about that yet, since this post is about May. LOL! Again, super sorry I’m so late….!!! And it’s so crazy to think that it’s already almost half way through the year…. WOW!! It’s going by so fast! XD πŸ˜€

May Bullet Journal Set Up (+April Recap Part 2)

Hey everybody! I’m finally here with my May Bujo set up. πŸ˜€

This time I again tried to cut down on pages, even more than last time, to save pages and make my journal last longer. πŸ˜‰ I did the whole thing in only a few pages! Thus, the whole set up didn’t take me as long as usual to complete, and I like it that way. (Because I don’t have time to spend 5 years working on spreads for one month. Haha!) 🀣

May’s theme is…..

Butterflys!!!

I’ve been wanted to use this as a theme, well, ever since I bought some really pretty butterfly sticker on amazon. πŸ˜‚

And yeah, let’s just get into it!! πŸ˜€

The May cover page is similar to my April cover page. I just liked it so much, I had to do it again! I really love how it turned out – it looks so cheerful and spring-y!! πŸ’™ πŸ¦‹

Next up, are my goals for May, my word of the month (Servant), habit tracker, and mood tracker. I told you guys I was using less pages! Normally, each of those would take a whole page, haha!

Now we have maybe my favorite page (it’s tied with all the other pages), my book tracker, and a Line a Day. (Where I simply write a line about my day, each day.) πŸ˜€

A few more trackers (Social tracker, Bible Reading, and Goals and Rewards. And yes, I know that I haven’t finished the Goals and Rewards section. Still trying to think of rewards! Any ideas???)

After that, the only spread left to share is my daily spread. Super simple and functional. πŸ˜€

And that’s it for my bullet journal this month, folks! I hope you guys enjoyed!

And there’s just one more thing I wanted to add in. This has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this post, but a few days ago when I posted my April Recap, I missed something very important! Some thing that was a lot of fun, and I don’t know how I ever could have ever missed it! Lol. XD

So I’m just going to call this section, April Recap, Part 2. πŸ˜‚

Around mid-April, our family went with another family up to the mountains to visit another family. (Ok sorry, that was a slightly confusing sentence! Just read it again, until you get it.) πŸ˜‰ LOL!

We went with the Garcia family, and we visited a man named Juan and his family, who lives a few hours away, far from civilization. (Well, not really far, but it feels far since it takes so long to get there because of the roads, lol!)

We got there for around lunch time, and we brought hot dogs for lunch. We used our special invention to cook them over the fire. (our special invention being chicken wire, which we lay about 20 hot dogs on top of, over the fire, to cook a bunch of them at once and save time!) XD If that didn’t make sense, see the photo below. I’m sorry, I’m bad at explaining things. LOL! πŸ˜‚

After lunch, we all decided do go on a hike. We drove a little ways to a good starting place, and then off we went!

The Mountains are so pretty!!

Selfie with my water bottle. Why? I don’t know. All I know, is that it was gone in like the next three strides, and I had no more water the rest of the way. LOL!

On the way, we came across this wall/cliff made of white sand. Everyone else probably thought, “oh, a wall of White sand! Cool, and bye.” but Lizzie and I thought, “Oh, a wall of white sand! LET’S CLIMB IT!” So we did.

(And I definitely did not rip my skirt twice in the process…. Don’t worry, it’s fixed now) πŸ˜‰ 🀣

We got stuck half way to the top, and couldn’t go any farther because there were no branches to hang on to. So we did the next logical thing, and slid all the way to the bottom (Filling our shoes with dirt) and into the tiny stream below (thereby filling them with water. THEREBY! We were muddy.) LOL! πŸ˜‚ 🀣

After walking 37 miles (or 1 1/2 I guess maybe), we reached our destination – a small (but large for the area) pool of water. πŸ˜€

After spending a little while there, talking and wading in the water *trying* to catch the fish, we headed back.

(And I most certainly was not so thirsty on the way back that I drank some of the stream water.) Hey, it was (mostly) clear!!! LOL! 🀣🀣🀣

When we got back to Juan’s house, we had a little bit of Bible reading and singing time which was great. πŸ˜€

Philip and Me

And there y’all have it, folks! πŸ˜€ It was a great time, and believe me, we got home tired, lol! XD I hope you guys enjoyed the photos, and I’ll see you in my next post! I hope everyone is having a great day. πŸ’•

I’m off to make some cheese! πŸ˜‚ πŸ§€
